CATALUNYA GP TEROL AND REDDING IN THE FIRST ROW

The 125cc second qualifying practice defined the starting grid of tomorrow’s  GP of Catalunya. The sky is cloudy but fortunately it does not rain over the Montmelò  circuit. The wind is stronger than yesterday and blows in the same direction of the very fast long stretch. Aprilia performed well, placing two bikes in the first row and seven in the first ten positions.

Pol Espargaro, on his RSA Derbi of the Belson team, got the pole with the time of 1’50”557. He is followed by Mike Di Meglio of the Ajo Motorsport team, also on his RSA Derbi. Nico Terol, on his RS of the Jack&Jones team, got the third position with the time of 1’50”740, 0”183 from the pole. The Spaniard performed a brilliant lap, showing to have a very good pace. Scott Redding, on his RS of the Blusens team, completes the first row, 0”544 from Espargaro. The young English rider proved to be very fast on the Catalonian track that he knows very well, as he took part in the Spanish Championship last year and conquered the second position.

“I am very happy – said Terol –  this third position is a great result and I have also set my personal record on this track. The bike is ok, there are still a few adjustments to make, but I have a great pace and I am confident I can perform a good race tomorrow. It will be tough, there will be a group of riders, maybe as many as in Mugello, competing for the final victory. The audience will definitely enjoy the race.”

“I did not expect to be in the first row – said Redding – but the bike went very fast and I am very happy with my results. It is going to be tough tomorrow, the other riders are very competitive. Completing the race in the first ten positions would be a very good result”.

Simone Corsi got the fifth position with the time of 1’51”365, 0”808 from the pole. He is followed by Sergio Gadea, Gabor Talmasci, who did not manage to improve his time by just 0.125”, and Bradley Smith. The English  rider was victim of a fall which fortunately did not worsen the state of his wounds caused during the Mugello practice. Andrea Iannone opens the third row, Cortese is in the eleventh position, while Bradl is in the thirteenth. Stefano Bianco got the twenty-first position and Lacalendola the thirty-fifth.
